A beautiful simplicity and peacefulness pervades the long legato phrases of this gloriously melodic work. Already transcribed successfully some years ago for large woodwind ensemble, this new concert band arrangement is equally appropriate, indeed sometimes it is hard to remember that this lovely music was originally written for orchestral strings, so naturally does it sound on winds.
